पतंजलि - योगसूत्र
वे लोग मन खोलकर किसी की प्रशंसा नहीं कर सकते, जो लोग ईर्ष्या, द्वेष व अहंकार से भरे हुए होते हैं; क्योंकि प्रशंसा करने से उनके मन को ठेस लगती है और प्रशंसा पाने वाल व्यक्ति के प्रति उनके मन में दुर्भाव व ईर्ष्या पनपती है। महर्षि पतंजलि ने योगसूत्र में व्यावहारिक जीवन के चार सूत्र दिए हैं - मैत्री, करुणा, मुदिता और उपेक्षा। समान लोगों के साथ मैत्री, दुःखी लोगों के प्रति करुणा, पुण्यवान सफल लोगों के प्रति मुदिता और कष्ट पहुँचाने वाले लोगों के प्रति उपेक्षा का भाव रखना चाहिए। इसमें जो मुदिता का व्यवहार है, वह प्रशंसा से जुड़ा हुआ है।

Maharishi Patanjali has given four sutras of practical life in the Yoga Sutras - friendship, compassion, mudita and neglect. One should have friendship with like-minded people, compassion towards the sad ones, kindness towards the virtuous successful people and disregard for the people who cause trouble.
